The Legacy Building Minneapolis logo

The Legacy Building, nestled in the heart of south Minneapolis, is a Black-owned sanctuary for creativity, offering artists a dynamic space to experiment, collaborate, and bring their visions to life. With our 1600 square feet of versatile space, including performance and event areas, a video/photo studio, recording studio, and rehearsal space, we foster the creation of compelling content and unforgettable experiences. Our commitment extends beyond physical space, providing resources and support to nurture artists and creatives throughout their creative journey.

Our space is designed to develop and support any artists unique expression. We aim to provide affordable and sustainable space for creative expression. We are equipped with Photo/Video Studios, Gallery, Vocal Recording Studio, Rehearsal Room and Store Front.

OUR MISSION

At The Legacy Building, we are devoted to cultivating a resilient community that thrives both today and in the future. Our mission is to catalyze cultural growth by spotlighting and nurturing creative Black voices. Within our 1600 square feet of versatile space—including a performance and event venue, video and photo studio, recording studio, and rehearsal space—we offer a rich tapestry of resources designed to support artists and creatives at every stage of their journey. Through a comprehensive slate of workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative events, we foster an environment where innovation flourishes, connections are forged, and collective ambitions are realized. We are not just a hub for artistic expression; we are a cradle for developing legacies that will echo through generations, providing both a platform for self-expression and a beacon of inspiration for the community.

EVENTS

Most events taking place at the Legacy Building are free and open to the public. Our intention is to bring creatives of different backgrounds, mediums and genres together to cultivate a cohesive ecosystem where we all can flourish as a community.

When attending our events come prepared to support and to give to the artists and their initiatives.

    Soul of the Southside is a free arts and music Juneteenth festival celebrating and honoring the resilience and cultural legacy of Foundational Black Americans. Happening on June 19th along 30th and Minnehaha Avenue in south Minneapolis.
